"Be who you are and say what you mean. Because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
Today has been a good reminder for me to not get so caught up in myself and the needs of my family, while neglecting the opportunities to BE or DO something for someone else. I have been so blessed to have such a great circle of friends and family and yet I can not tell you what I have done lately for any of them. Though gifts and lunch dates are great and meaningful, it is the important things like: kind words, encouragement, an ear to listen, and a shoulder to cry on that seem to make the biggest impact. Not just being available, but making sure he/she KNOWS that you are available. Being the "seeker" of needs has never been easy for me. I have no problem in being available, I just tend to play the "wait and see if they come to me" game.
One can display hospitality and know all there is to know about social graces and yet be cold as ice on the inside. That is not how I want to live. Its my prayer tonight that God would give me the strength and courage to be a genuine friend.
Being said, I am excited to start my day tomorrow afresh and seek out a friend in need.
I havent figured blogging out entirely, but it would be great to hear if anyone has anything they want to comment or share on the matter. Even so, let me know if you give this a try yourself.
